Read on to learn more about care jobs in Christchurch and the many benefits of working in care.

Qualifications of our carers

You may be wondering whether you’re even qualified to work in care. While we don’t necessarily require our carers to have years of experience under their belt, we do look for carers who have completed their NVQ qualifications. All of our carers must provide references and an enhanced DBS check. Having previous training and knowledge is an asset as the care we provide is designed to bridge the gap between traditional care and nursing. This means you must pass an induction training with our registered nurses. Of course, we’ll also provide ongoing training and supervision so that your skills are constantly developing.

Experience vs values

Although having experience is important, we believe sharing our values and having the right attitude goes a long way. We look for people who are naturally compassionate and empathetic. Are you able to deal with frustrating situations with patience and kindness? Do you treat people with respect and sensitivity? Are you flexible and able to think on your feet? Do you have a genuine concern for the wellbeing of others? If so, you already possess some of the key ingredients required to succeed as a carer.

A rewarding career choice

Without a doubt, working in care is an incredibly fulfilling career choice. At the end of each shift, you get to return home knowing that your presence brought sunshine to someone else’s life. Although, like with any job, there may be stressful or challenging moments, it’s rewarding to know that your actions made a positive difference and someone’s life is better because you’re in it. In addition, working with people who have different needs and abilities can be a humbling experience. Don’t be surprised if you walk away with a greater appreciation for life and the things you take for granted.

Joining our family of carers

When you join our family of carers, you become part of a close-knit team.  We’ll ensure you have the training and support to truly thrive. Our training is led by our registered nurse who will train you in clinical procedures such as wound dressing and insulin injections.
